GOLD AWARD – External Design (Module Pavilion) – Bureau of International Expositions (BIE)”

Project description:

At Expo 2025 Osaka, Angola presents itself under the theme “Educating the Community for a Better Future”, offering a sensory and immersive experience that reveals a country in motion — one capable of uniting tradition and science, nature and technology, identity and innovation.

The pavilion occupies a structure provided by the organisers, located in an area of exceptional visibility, particularly from the large elevated ring where visitors circulate.

The façade stands out as a large screen slanted as landmark, whose design arises from the encounter between the essential colours and geometries of African culture and the Japanese tradition of sashimono banners. This visual language evolves into the vibrant pulse of contemporary digital graphics, transforming the building into a living, dynamic icon — a creation distinguished with the Gold Award for External Design – Module Pavilions (Type B+X), awarded by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) during Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.
The award recognises the aesthetic originality, symbolic strength and architectural quality of the Angola pavilion.

Upon closer look, the façade reveals another element deeply intertwined with the pavilion’s message — “Educating the Community for a Better Future: Education for Health.” Between the large tensioned panels, created using innovative technologies, appears a trail of kites, symbolising a young nation that faces the future with hope and courage:

Organised into three main areas — Pre-Show, Immersive Experience, and Epilogue — the journey combines projections, illustrations, sound, light, and interactivity, allowing the public to experience first-hand the transition between Angola’s ancestral traditions and modernity.

Inside, visitors are guided through a 360° audiovisual immersion journey, centred around the narrative “Tchisola’s Dream”. The story follows a young Angolan girl who, after overcoming malaria, discovers the calling that will lead her to become a doctor — a symbol of resilience, the strength of education, and the transformative power of knowledge in building a sustainable future.

The contents explore five key themes — Angola, Education, Life, Culture, and Science — reinforcing the image of a nation investing in training, innovation, and the well-being of its people.

The visit culminates in a large welcoming space, with a stage for concerts, a bar, and a restaurant, celebrating Angola’s deepest tradition of gathering and welcoming everyone in the jango, the heart of the village.
Here, visitors are invited to discover the creative energy, talent, and hospitality of a country that looks to the future with hope.
