The Luanda Science Centre is a pioneering institution in Angola, dedicated to the dissemination and popularisation of scientific and technological knowledge. Housed in a restored former soap factory, the centre offers people a unique experience in the city, where they can come into contact with science in an interactive, captivating way that is accessible to all ages.
The Luanda Science Centre is a cultural facility without equal on the African continent in terms of size and relevance. With a total surface area of around 18,000 m² and a built area of 8,000 m², we have around 6,000 m² dedicated to permanent and temporary interactive and immersive exhibitions.
In addition to the various themed exhibition rooms, there are a number of innovative spaces: a planetarium with state-of-the-art technology, a butterfly garden, a scientific kitchen, a laboratory, a media library, a large-format cinema that doubles as an auditorium for seminars and conferences, and a visual videomapping programme on the front of the building.
With a varied programme accessible to all age groups, the Luanda Science Centre is a place of learning, discovery and fun, designed to inspire future generations to follow the paths of science, technology and innovation. Its main vision is to become a driving force for Angola’s scientific, cultural and social future.
The centre’s mission is to improve the scientific and technological knowledge of the Angolan population, promoting knowledge in an inclusive and entertaining way, making Angola the beacon of excellence in scientific dissemination on the African continent and worldwide.
